William Hurt has signed on to join the cast of “Race,” the biopic of legendary athletic superstar Jesse Owens. Jeremy Irons, Jason Sudeikis, Carice van Houten, and Stephan James also star in the film which will open nationwide on April 8th 2016.
Stephen Hopkins helms the project which is currently shooting in Montreal and Berlin. The story follows his quest to become the greatest track and field athlete in history thrusts him onto the world stage of the 1936 Olympics, where he faces off against Adolf Hitler’s vision of Aryan supremacy. The Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials
Jacob Lofland (“Mud”) has been cast in the upcoming sequel “Maze Runner: Scorch Trials” for 20th Century Fox. Wes Ball will return as director on the follow-up which also stars Dylan O’Brien, Kaya Scodelario, Thomas Brodie-Sangster, Rosa Salazar and Aidan Gillen.
Lofland will play Aris Jones, a significant character from the second novel. After The Gladers escape the maze, they meet Aris and discover his connection to the maze and the people who built it. [Source: Heat Vision]
Catherine Zeta-Jones has signed on to play true-life female drug kingpin Giselda Blanco in the biopic “The Godmother”. Eva Sorhaug will direct.
Cartegena-born Blanco was the only woman to ever rise through the ranks of Colombia’s notorious Medellin cartel, and became a feared figure in the Miami drug wars of the 1970s and 1980s. [Source: Deadline]
If There Be Thorns
Heather Graham will reprise her role of Corrine Dollangager from the previous two telemovies based on V.C. Andrews’ “Flowers in the Attic” series in the upcoming third installment “If There Be Thorns”.
The story follows Christopher (Jason Lewis) and Cathy Dollanganger (Rachael Carpani) live together as man and wife in California with Cathy’s two sons, who are unaware of the nature of their parents’ relationship.
