Colton Haynes (“Arrow,” “Teen Wolf”) has joined the cast of Brad Peyton’s earthquake disaster film “San Andreas”. Carla Gugino and Alexandra Daddario also star.

The Good Lord Bird
Jaden Smith and Liev Schreiber have signed on to star in an adaptation of James McBride’s slightly satirical, Huckleberry Finn-esquw slavery drama novel “The Good Lord Bird”. McBride, Schreiber and Brian Taylor will produce.

Smith plays a young slave named Henry “Onion” Shackleford who skips town with abolitionist John Brown (Liev Schreiber) who believes Henry is actually a girl. The pair, and his crew of freedom fighters, travel the nation meeting historical figures on the way to the Harper’s Ferry raid which set the stage for the Civil War. [Source: Deadline]

Thomas Haden Church and Jay Hernandez are in negotiations to join the cast of Boaz Yakin’s family film “Max” at MGM. Filming begins in May in North Carolina.

Inspired by true events, the plot tells of a military dog who is traumatized by his handler’s death in Afghanistan and is adopted by the soldier’s bereaved family. He bonds with the troubled 14-year-old brother (Josh Wiggins) and together they begin to heal and discover a secret about the soldier’s death. [Source: THR]

Monster Trucks
Barry Pepper has scored a secret role in the upcoming live-action animation hybrid pic “Monster Trucks” at Paramount Pictures.

Thomas Lennon, Danny Glover, Jane Levy, Amy Ryan, Lucas Till, and Holt McCallany also star in the Chris Wedge-helmed film due for release next May. [Source: Deadline]

The Sin Seer
Isaiah Washington has signed on to star in Paul D. Hannah’s suspense thriller “The Sin Seer” for Overflow Entertainment. The story follows a woman (Lisa Arrindell Anderson) with the ability to see into people’s souls, read minds and detect lies. She uses these gifts to solve crimes and mysteries.

Her latest case opens doors to her own past and that of her new partner (Washington), even she can’t see what lies ahead. Michael Ironside and C. Thomas Howell also star, while production begins later this month in North Carolina. [Source: The Wrap]
