The Gambler
John Goodman has joined the cast of Rupert Wyatt’s remake of 1974’s “The Gambler” at Paramount Pictures. Brie Larson, Jessica Lange, Michael K. Williams and Travis Tope also star.

Mark Wahlberg plays a man whose gambling addiction lands him in hot water with his girlfriend, his mother and some unsavory gangsters including a Jewish loan shark (Goodman). [Source: The Wrap]

The Falling Snow
Rebecca Ferguson (“The White Queen”) will replace Olga Kurylenko in the lead role on the spy thriller “The Falling Snow” for Enlightenment Productions. Filming begins in Belgrade on January 23rd.

Shamim Sarif penned the original book on which it is based. He also adapted the screenplay and will direct. The story follows a spy who falls in love with an idealistic politician. Charles Dance, Sam Reid, Oliver Jackson-Cohen and Anthony Head also star. [Source: Screen]

The White Orchid
Olivia Thirlby has been announced as the star in Steve Anderson’s noir thriller “The White Orchid” which recently wrapped filming.

Thirlby plays a shy, part-time social services investigator assigned to help a local sheriff (John Carroll Lynch) solve the brutal murder of a beautiful blonde. Jennifer Beals, Nichelle Nichols and Brendan Sexton also star. [Source: THR]

Anna Friel (“Pushing Daisies”) will star in the Traffic-esque thriller pilot “Odyssey” for NBC. Peter Horton will executive produce.
