A Valley of Violence
Karen Gillan (“Doctor Who”) and Taissa Farmiga (“American Horror Story”) have joined the cast of Ti West’s 1890s-set Western “In A Valley Of Violence”. Ethan Hawke plays a drifter with nothing to lose who seeks revenge on the thugs who killed his best friend.
Farmiga plays a young woman who runs the town’s hotel with her older sister (Gillan) and helps him in his quest for vengeance. John Travolta also stars in the film which begins shooting in late June. [Source: Deadline]
Skyler Samuels (“The Nine Lives of Chloe King”) is set to join Mae Whitman and Bella Thorne in Ari Sandel’s teen comedy “The DUFF” at CBS Films. Samuels will play a free spirited yoga instructor, PETA activist and the best friend of the lead character.
Based on the Kody Keplinger young adult novel, Whitman plays an off-beat honor roll student who discovers she is considered a DUFF (designated ugly fat friend). She enlists the help of her neighbor, a jock, to give her a social makeover so she can ask her longtime crush on a date. Filming begins in June in Atlanta. [Source: THR]
Fast and Furious 7
Latin-American singer Romeo Santos has scored a role in “Fast and Furious 7” at Universal Pictures. His role has yet to be revealed.
Vin Diesel joined Santos on stage on Thursday night at a sold-out Staples Center concert in Los Angeles to make the announcement. [Source: Deadline]
Mark Pellegrino (“Lost,” “Supernatural”) has been tapped for a lead role in Carlton Cuse’s upcoming ten-episode straight-to-series A&E drama remake of acclaimed French series “The Returned”.
The story focuses on a small town that is turned upside down when several local people, who have been long presumed dead suddenly reappear. Pellegrino will play father of twins. [Source: Deadline]
