Avril Lavigne, Ashley Tisdale and Chinese pop star G.E.M. have all joined the cast of 3QU Media’s animated musical comedy “Charming” which John H. Williams and Henry Skelsey will produce.
Lavigne plays Snow White, Tisdale is Cinderella and QEM is Sleeping Beauty with the trio joining Demi Lovato as the female lead Lenore. The story follows what happens after the princesses discover they are all engaged to the same prince. [Source: Deadline]
Kong: Skull Island
Corey Hawkins (“Straight Outta Compton”) is in negotiations to join Tom Hiddleston and Brie Larson in the action-packed “King Kong” prequel “Kong: Skull Island” at Legendary Pictures.
Jordan Vogt-Roberts helms the film which will be set in the mysterious, dangerous home of the king of the apes as a team of explorers ventures deep inside the island. Max Borenstein, John Gatins and Dan Gilroy penned the script. [Source: Variety]
New Jersey native Shanice Williams has landed the role of Dorothy in NBC’s live musical rendition of “The Wiz” following a massive open casting call. The program is set to air on Thursday December 3rd.
“The Wiz” will be Williams’ first TV role. She has five years of musical training including extensive dance and piano and co-starred in several local productions. She joins a cast that includes Queen Latifah (the Wiz), Mary J. Blige (the Wicked Witch of the West), David Alan Grier (the Cowardly Lion) and Stephanie Mills (Auntie Em). [Source: The Live Feed]

Hailee Steinfeld is in negotiations to star in Kelly Fremon Craig’s coming-of-age film previously called “Besties” for STX Entertainment.

Musician John Legend is in negotiations to join the cast of Damien Chazelle’s musical dramedy “La La Land” with Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone and J.K. Simmons.
Gosling is portraying a jazz pianist and Stone will play an aspiring actress in the story about a duo who fall in love but face difficulties as they become more successful. [Source: Variety]
