Star Wars: Rebels
“Buffy the Vampire Slayer” star Sarah Michelle Gellar has joined the voice cast of Disney XD’s “Star Wars: Rebels” for its second season which is currently in production. The series recently wrapped its first season.
Details on which character Gellar will voice are being kept under wraps, but it is said to be pivotal. She’ll join a cast that includes Freddie Prinze Jr., Vanessa Marshall, Steve Blum, Tiya Sircar, Taylor Gray and David Oyelowo. [Source: The Live Feed]
Billy Lynn’s Halftime Walk
Steve Martin is set to join the cast of the Ang Lee-directed “Billy Lynn’s Long Halftime Walk” for TriStar Pictures. Joe Alwyn is set as the title character and Garrett Hedlund is in line for another key role in the project which begins shooting next month.
An adaptation of the Ben Fountain novel, the story follows a 19-year-old private who survives a harrowing Iraq battle that is captured by news cameras. Brought home by the U.S. administration for a promotional tour, culminating at the halftime show of a Thanksgiving Day football game, all while facing an imminent return to the war. David Denman (“The Office,” “Parenthood”) will play an elite sniper named Boon in Michael Bay’s political war drama “13 Hours” at Paramount Pictures. John Krasinski, James Badge Dale, Max Martini and Pablo Schreiber also star with shooting to begin next month in Malta and Morocco.
The film is an adaptation of Mitchell Zuckoff’s book about the 2012 attack on an American compound in Libya that left U.S. ambassador J. Christopher Stevens dead. The story centers on the special forces team that attempted to rescue Stevens. [Source: THR]
Emily Watson has joined the cast of Starz and the BBC’s TV movie “The Dresser” starring Anthony Hopkins and Ian McKellen. Richard Eyre helms the project which is currently shooting around London.
