Following his confirmation of Jack Huston as the title character in “The Crow” reboot, the comic’s creator James O’Barr has also confirmed that “Downton Abbey” actress Jessica Brown Findlay has scored the female lead role.
Findlay will play Eric Draven’s murdered girlfriend Shelly in flashbacks in the project which Corin Hardy (“The Hallow”) will direct. O’Barr confirms that much of the cast will be British with one of them to be a “Game of Thrones” veteran. [Source: Dread Central]

Natalie Martinez (“Secrets And Lies”) has joined the cast of Fabrice Du Welz’s revenge thriller “Message From The King”. Chadwick Boseman plays a South African who descends into the L.A. underworld in an attempt to avenge his younger sister’s death and rescue her stepson from the immoral world into which he’s been sold.
Martinez will play Trish, the former neighbor of Jacob’s missing sister Bianca who he recruits to help find the woman’s murderer. Teresa Palmer, Luke Evans and Alfred Molina also star with filming underway in Los Angeles.. [Source: Deadline]
Welcome To Willits: After Sundown
Teresa Palmer (“Warm Bodies”) will star in a feature adaptation of the SXSW horror sci-fi short “Welcome to Willits: After Sundown”. Trevor Ryan, who created the short, will direct.
Palmer will play the female lead in the horror sci-fi, which follows a group of young campers who get lost in Californian wood and come across a man obsessed with aliens. Mark Webber will reprise his role from the short as the man. [Source: Screen]
Untitled Jessie Owens Biopic
Anthony Mackie (“Captain America: The Winter Soldier”) is attached to star in a biopic about American track and field hero Jesse Owens that is in development at Relativity.
This marks the third Owens movie in the works in Hollywood, following the already complete “Race” at Focus and “Triumph” in development at Disney. [Source: Variety]
