November Criminals
Ansel Elgort (“The Fault in Our Stars”) will star with Chloe Grace Moretz in Sacha Gervasi’s teen thriller “November Criminals” at Lotus Entertainment. Steven Knight (“Locke,” “Eastern Promises”) adapted the script from Sam Munson’s 2011 novel.

The story follows two teenagers who venture into the seedy underbelly of Washington D.C. to investigate a friend’s murder while falling in love for the first time. Catherine Keener also stars. [Source: Deadline]

Free State of Jones
Gugu Mbatha-Raw (“Belle,” “Beyond the Lights”) will star opposite Matthew McConaughey in Gary Ross’ $65 million Civil War movie “Free State of Jones” for STX Entertainment. Scott Stuber and Jon Kilik are producing.

Based on a true story, McConaughey plays Newton Knight and Mbatha-Raw is Rachel, a slave whose relationship with Knight played a central part in his life and in his armed rebellion against the Confederacy during the Civil War. [Source: The Wrap]

Shannara
Spanish actress Ivan Banquero (“Pan’s Labyrinth”) has joined the cast of the fantasy drama series “Shannara” on MTV. Based on the famed novels by Terry Brooks, filming begins next month in New Zealand.

Baquero will play Eretria, a human from the wrong side of the tracks who uses her wits to survive within the magic-endowed Shannara clan. “Smallville” show runners Alfred Gough and Miles Millar will executive produce. [Source: Variety]

When The Bough Breaks
Theo Rossi (“Sons of Anarch”) has joined the cast of psychological thriller “When The Bough Breaks” at Screen Gems. Morris Chestnut, Regina Hall, and Jaz Sinclair also star in the film which former “24” show runner Jon Cassar will direct.

The story follows an infertile couple who hire a blue collar woman to act as their surrogate (Sinclair). Said surrogate soon develops a violent fixation on the husband before the baby is even born. Filming begins February 2nd in New Orleans. [Source: Deadline]

Justified
Jonathan Tucker (“Kingdom,” “The Deep End”) has scored a role in the final five episodes of FX’s U.S. marshal series “Justified”. The sixth and final season kicks off on January 20th.

Tucker will play Boon, a hired gun of Katherine Hale’s (Mary Steenburgen) ex-husband, Avery Markham (Sam Elliott). Elliott and Garret Dillahunt serve as the main antagonists of the season. [Source: The Live Feed]
