Taron Egerton has again responded to fan casting reports suggesting he should play Wolverine in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The “Rocketman” actor said this week he’s aware of the talk: “I love Marvel and I love the movies and I’d love the excuse to get in shape. I’d love to be a part of it, whether [Wolverine] is realistic or not, I don’t know.” Egerton’s “Eddie the Eagle” co-star Hugh Jackman played the role for seventeen years across nine movies. Oscar nominee Jacki Weaver will join Naomi Watts and Andrew Lincoln in the family drama “Penguin Bloom.” Rachel House, Gaye Hatfield, Leeanna Walsman and Lisa Hensley are also joining the cast of the film which Glendyn Ivin helms from a script by Shaun Grant and Harry Cripps.
Weaver will portray the mother of Watts’ character in the story of a young family on Sydney’s northern beaches who must come to terms with a near-fatal accident that leaves the mother paralyzed. As they learn to adjust to her new situation, an unlikely ally enters their lives in the form of an injured magpie chick dubbed ‘Penguin’ by the family. [Source: Variety]
Reese Witherspoon is attached to star in the sci-fi film “Pyros” which she will produce with Simon Kinberg, Lauren Neustadter and Audrey Chon and is being penned by Thomas Pierce – adapting his own 2018 short story “Tardy Man”.
The story follows a group of augmented people fitted with indestructible fire suits fused to their spines. Said group work for a corporation salvaging objects from burning mansions, and it is strictly forbidden for them to veer from mission – even when other humans are in danger. Chris Messina (“Devil,” “Sharp Objects”) has been cast opposite Matt Bomer and Bill Pullman in the third season of USA Network’s anthology crime thriller series “The Sinner”. Pullman plays Detective Harry Ambrose who begins a routine investigation of a tragic car accident on the outskirts of Dorchester and uncovers a hidden crime.
