Paul Bettany is set to make his directorial debut on the low budget indie romance drama “Shelter”. Bettany also penned the script with filming to begin in New York City in September.

Broadway actor Cory Michael Smith has joined the cast of HBO’s “Olive Kitteridge” miniseries helmed by Lisa Cholodenko.

Frances McDormand plays a wickedly witty but outwardly harsh woman observing affairs, crime, and tragedy in her small New England town. Smith plays an ex-student of Olive’s who returns home. [Source: Deadline]

If I Stay
Mireille Enos (AMC’s “The Killing”) is in talks to join Chloe Moretz in RJ Cutler’s adaptation of Gayle Forman’s novel “If I Stay” at MGM.

The story follows a teenager who is in a coma after a car accident. Enos plays the girl’s free-spirited mother who is fiercely passionate about her family and rock music. [Source: Deadline]

Tyrant
Justin Kirk (“Weeds”) is set to star in FX’s drama series pilot “Tyrant”. The story revolves around an unassuming American Family who are drawn into the workings of a turbulent Middle Eastern nation.

Kirk will play John Tucker, a sexy, decadent and mysterious American diplomat with a hidden agenda. David Yates will direct the pilot. [Source: THR]
