American Horror Story: Freak Show
Michael Chiklis is joining the cast of FX’s “American Horror Story: Freak Show,” the fourth season of their anthology series. Chiklis will be playing the father to Evan Peters’ character and ex-husband to Kathy Bates’ character.
Set in Florida 1950, Jessica Lange plays a German ex-Pat managing one of the last remaining freak shows in the country. Angela Bassett, Frances Conroy, Denis O’Hare and Emma Roberts also star. [Source: The Live Feed]
Hand of God
Dana Delany has been cast as the lead role in Amazon Studios’ pilot “Hand of God.” Marc Foster will direct from a script by Ben Watkins with filming to begin in April.
Delany will play Crystal Harris, the protective wife of Judge Pernell (Ron Perlman) who has a high-end call girl on the side. He then experiences a religious awakening when he suspects that God is speaking to him through his ventilator-bound son. [Source: Variety]
Tom Wilkinson is being eyed to play President Lyndon B. Johnson in Ava DuVernay’s civil rights drama “Selma” at Paramount Pictures. Brad Pitt and Oprah Winfrey will produce.
The drama follows Martin Luther King’s (David Oyelowo) landmark 1965 voting rights campaign, which is regarded as the peak of the civil rights movement. Johnson gave an eloquent speech about voting rights one week after deadly racial violence erupted in Alabama. [Source: The Wrap]
Bobby Cannavale and Nia Long are in negotiations to star in Paul Feig’s upcoming comedy “Spy” (formerly known as Susan Cooper). Cannavale plays a villainous Italian playboy, Long a CIA chief.
Melissa McCarthy stars as a female secret agent, who heads into the field to find whoever is responsible for the death of her lover and colleague (Jude Law). Jason Statham, Rose Byrne and Miranda Hart also star. [Source: THR]
