Adan Canto (“The Following,” “X-Men: Days of Future Past”) has scored the lead role in the Amazon drama pilot “Hysteria” alongside Mena Suvari and T.R. Knight. Filming currently is underway in Austin.
Suvari plays a bright but shy doctor who travels to Austin to investigate an epidemic among high school girls that might be spreading through technology. Canto plays Matt Sanchez, a self-deprecating survivor and brother of the doctor’s childhood best friend. [Source: The Live Feed]
Former world welterweight champion boxer-turned-actor Victor Ortiz has joined the cast of Antoine Fuqua’s boxing feature “Southpaw” for The Weinstein Company.
Ortiz plays Ramone, a flyweight kid from the streets with real sparring potential. Jake Gyllenhaal, Rachel McAdams and Forest Whitaker star in the film which just began shooting in Pittsburgh. [Source: Deadline]

Dylan Baker (“Spider-Man 2,” “The Good Wife”) has joined the cast of the Martin Luther King Jr.-themed film “Selma” at Paramount Pictures. Ava DuVernay is directing.
