Disney has sent out a casting notice calling for Middle Eastern actors in the 18 to 25 age range to audition for the lead roles of Aladdin and Jasmine in the upcoming live-action “Aladdin” film.
Guy Ritchie helms the movie musical adaptation of the classic 1992 animated feature, so those trying out must be able to sing and dancing experience is “a plus.”
The story follows a street-wise youth that tries to woo a princess and defeat an evil sorcerer after he stumbles upon a magic lamp and is granted three wishes by a genie trapped inside. John August (“Big Fish”) penned the script for the new take.
Shooting will take place over a six month period from July to January in the United Kingdom with rehearsals beginning in April.
Disney recently had a similar casting call for the leads in the live-action “Mulan” remake.
