Lost Melody
Nicolas Cage is in talks to star in “Bad Santa” director Terry Zwigoff’s new indie drama “Lost Melody”. Zwigoff and Melissa Axelrod co-wrote the script.

Cage would play a man who’s trapped in a marriage to a shrewish wife and falls in love with a prostitute. Edward R. Pressman (“American Psycho”) is producing. [Source: The Wrap]

Kevin Costner has closed a deal to star in Niki Caro’s true story sports drama “McFarland” at Disney Pictures and Mayhem Pictures.

ostner will play a coach living in a predominantly Hispanic California town who creates a high school track team that must overcome social and physical hurdles to become champions during the 1980s. [Source: Variety]

Jessica Lowndes (“90210”) has scored the female lead role in Shyam Madiraju’s survival thriller “Eden” at Ombra Films. Nate Parker and Diego Boneta also star.

The story set in motion when a soccer team’s plane crashes on a deserted island. Team spirit evaporates as disagreements both petty and profound cause the group to separate into factions. [Source: THR]

Love and Mercy
Graham Rogers (“Revolution”) and Brett Davern (“Awkward”) are set to portray young incarnations of Beach Boys members Al Jardine and Carl Wilson respectively in Bill Pohlad’s “Love and Mercy”.

The film is a biopic of the band’s frontman Brian Wilson whom Paul Dano and John Cusack will play at different points in his life. Filming begins this week in Los Angeles. [Source: Variety]
