Sony Pictures is reportedly fast-tracking a new live-action adaptation of “Cinderella” with pop star Camila Cabello as the star. Actor and late night host James Corden reportedly came up with the story for the new take which will be penned and helmed by “Blockers” director Kay Cannon.
British actor Kingsley Ben-Adir (“The OA”) has joined the cast of Stella Meghie’s romantic drama “The Photograph” at Universal Pictures. The story will focus on intertwining love stories set in both the past and present. Issa Rae, Lakeith Stanfield, Chelsea Peretti, Kelvin Harrison Jr., Jasmine Cephas Jones, Y’lan Noel, Jasmine Cephas Jones and Courtney B. Vance co-star.
Olivia Cooke (“Ready Player One,” “Bates Motel”) has signed on to star opposite John Boyega In Chase Palmer’s heist thriller “Naked Singularity” for Scott Free Productions. Palmer and David Matthews penned the script based on the novel by Sergio De La Pava.
The story centers on an idealistic young New York City public defender burned out by the system and in the middle of a mental breakdown. Seeing signs of the universe collapsing around him, he gets suspended and decides to rob a $75M drug deal off one of his clients.
Annabelle Wallis, Hero Fiennes-Tiffin and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau are set to star in director Robin Pront’s “The Silencing” which was panned by Micah Ranum.
The story follows a reformed hunter (Coster-Waldau) who becomes involved in a deadly game of cat and mouse when he and the local sheriff Alice Gustafson (Wallis) set out to track a vicious killer who may have kidnapped his daughter years ago. Tiffin will play the troubled younger brother of Alice.
What Life Is Worth
Laura Benanti has been cast alongside Michael Keaton and Stanley Tucci in Sara Colangelo’s true-life biographical drama “What Is Life Worth” which begins shooting this month. Max Borenstein penned the Black List script is based on Kenneth Feinberg’s memoir.
Feinberg, a powerful DC insider lawyer, was put in charge of the 9/11 Fund. In almost three years of pro bono work on the case, he fought off the cynicism, bureaucracy and politics associated with administering government funds to victims’ families. Benanti will play Karen Abate, the widow of a New York City firefighter who died in 9/11.
