Casting: Brosnan, Ory, Bomer, Simmons, Key

Pierce Brosnan has signed on to star in Aaron Kaufman’s dramatic thriller “Urge”. Kaufman co-penned the script with Jason Zumwalt and Jerry Stahl. Filming begins this October in New York.

The story follows a group of friends holidaying on an island destination who try a new designer drug that makes them lose their ability to control their urges. Brosnan will play the creator and distributor of the narcotic. [Source: Deadline]

Dead Rising
Meghan Ory, Jesse Metcalfe and Virginia Madsen will join the previously announced Dennis Haysbert in Zach Lipovsky’s feature length “Dead Rising: Watchtower,” an adaptation of the “Dead Rising” videogame franchise from Legendary Digital Media and Crackle. Filming begins September 30th in Vancouver.

Tim Carter penned the script that revolves around a zombie outbreak, and the pursuit of the root of the epidemic when a government vaccine fails to stop the infection. The project is Legendary’s first film produced exclusively for a digital platform. [Source: Variety]

Nice Guys
Matt Bomer (“White Collar”) and Margaret Qually (“The Leftovers”) will star opposite Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe in Shane Black’s action drama “The Nice Guys” for Warner Bros. Pictures. Joel Silver is producing.

Set in 1970s Los Angeles, Gosling plays a detective hired by a gangster (Crowe) to find a missing girl. In the process, he uncovers a dangerous conspiracy involving a corrupt chief justice. [Source: Deadline]

Bone Tomahawk
The likes of Lili Simmons, Sean Young, David Arquette, Sid Haig, Kathryn Morris and Evan Jonigkeit have joined the cast of the western “Bone Tomahawk” at Caliber Media. Dallas Sonnier and Jack Heller will produce.

Patrick Wilson, Matthew Fox, Kurt Russell and Richard Jenkins are already onboard the S. Craig Zahler penned and will direct the film about four men who attempt to rescue a group of captives from cannibalistic cave-dwellers. [Source: Screen]

Keegan-Michael Key (“Key and Peele”) and Regina Hall (“24”) are set to join the cast of the “Vacation” reboot at New Line. Hall and Key will play family friends of the Griswolds who are described as “the perfect family.”

Ed Helms, Christina Applegate, Chris Hemsworth and Leslie Mann star in the story which follows a grown up Rusty Griswold (Ed Helms) who has the perfect surprise for his wife, Debbie (Applegate), and two sons: the cross-country trip of a lifetime to Walley World, reminiscent of the fun-filled excursion he took as a kid.
