Casting: Bowie, Reynolds, O’Connell, Henry

Showrunner Bryan Fuller has confirmed rumors that he has reached out to David Bowie to see if he’s interested and available for the second season of NBC’s “Hannibal”.

If cast, Bowie would play Hannibal’s uncle Count Robert Lecter, a character who briefly appeared in the books. Production on the series resumes in August in Toronto. [Source: E! Online]

Mississippi Grind
Ryan Reynolds will star with Ben Mendelsohn in “Half Nelson” writer/directors Ryan Fleck and Anna Boden’s new project “Mississippi Grind”. Shooting begins early next year.

The story focuses on a gambler (Reynolds) on a losing streak who goes on a road trip through the South with a younger gambling addict. Jake Gyllenhaal was previously attached to the role Reynolds now plays. [Source: Deadline]

Secret Service
Jack O’Connell (“Skins”), John Boyega (“Attack the Block”) and Christian Cooke (“Magic City”) are expected to test next week for the key supporting role opposite Colin Firth in Matthew Vaughn’s comic adaptation “The Secret Service” at 20th Century Fox.

Whomever wins the role will play a young secret agent that is mentored by Firth’s veteran agent. Vaughn and Jane Goldman penned the script with shooting to begin this Fall. [Source: Variety]

Lizzie Borden
Gregg Henry will co-star with Christina Ricci in Lifetime’s TV movie about the famous murder trial of Lizzie Borden.

Henry will play District Attorney Hosea Knowlton, responsible for mounting the prosecution against Borden. [Source: Deadline]
