Emily Blunt is in negotiations to star in Denis Villeneuve’s crime thriller “Sicario” which begins filming this this summer. Details on her character are unavailable.
The story follows a Tuscon police officer who hires two mercenaries on a journey to track down a notorious drug lord in Mexico. Villeneuve will film this before jumping onto “Story of Your Life” starring Amy Adams. [Source: Variety]
“The Way Way Back” scene stealers Sam Rockwell and Allison Janney are re-teaming with that film’s directors Jim Rash and Nat Faxon for their action-comedy “The Heart” at Indian Paintbrush.
Kristin plays a cash-strapped woman who agrees to transport black market organs with a man she just met (Rockwell). Janney would play Wiig’s intimidating boss who has two boyfriends. Filming begins in May in North Carolina. [Source: The Wrap]
Amy Ryan, Frank Whaley, Danny Glover, and Holt McCallany are set to join Lucas Till and Jane Levy in Chris Wedge’s “Monster Trucks” for Paramount Pictures which opens May 29th 2015.
The Amblin-style film sees Till as a young man who befriends a monster truck. Whaley is his father, while Glover is a man who runs a junkyard in the $125 million-budget film. [Source: Heat Vision]
Jesse Plemons (“Breaking Bad”) would appear to be out of the running for “Star Wars: Episode VII” as he’s in talks to star in Scott Cooper’s crime drama “Black Mass” at Warner Bros. Pictures.
Plemons will play Kevin Weeks, a blue-collar man who is part of the inner circle of Boston criminal James ‘Whitey’ Bulger (Johnny Depp). Juno Temple is also in talks to play a prostitute. [Source: THR]
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon II
Chinese action star Donnie Yen has scored the lead role in Woo-ping Yuen’s upcoming action sequel “Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon II – The Green Destiny” at The Weinstein Company.
Yen will play the new role of Silent Wolf opposite the returning Michelle Yeoh as Yu Shu Lien. Filming begins this June in New Zealand. [Source: Deadline]
