Orlando Bloom, Michael Douglas and Noomi Rapace are set to star in the upcoming Michael Apted-directed thriller “Unlocked” for BLOOM. Peter O’Brien wrote the screenplay and shooting begins November 3rd.
The story follows a CIA interrogator (Rapace) who races to thwart a biological warfare attack on London after she unwittingly gives information to terrorists.
Boswell For The Defence
Steve Coogan has scored the title role of James Boswell in Gregor Jordan’s upcoming film adaptation of Patrick Edgeworth’s West End play “Boswell For The Defence”. Filming begins next year in Europe.
Coogan will play the Scottish lawyer who takes on the case of a female convict sentenced to death in the period legal drama which Current Entertainment will produce.
Comedian and actor Louis C.K. has joined the cast of Jay Roach’s Dalton Trumbo biopic “Trumbo”. Bryan Cranston, Helen Mirren, John Goodman, Diane Lane and Elle Fanning also star.
C.K. will play screenwriter Arlen Hird, who like Trumbo, fell on hard times after being blacklisted, but refused to compromise on his principles. Filming begins later this month.
The Last Kingdom
Alexander Dreymon (“American Horror Story: Coven”) has scored the lead role of Uhtred in the eight-hour, ninth century-set epic series “The Last Kingdom” for BBC America and BBC2.
Based on Bernard Cornwell’s book series “The Saxon,” Dreymon plays a young English man kidnapped and raised by Dreymon. He’s soon forced to choose between the country of his birth and the people of his upbringing. [Source: Deadline]
Hugo Weaving (“The Matrix”) and Sohum Shah (“Ship of Thesus”) are in talks to star in Anand Gandhi’s fantasy period drama “Bird Eclipse”
Spanning three decades following WW2, the story deals with the illegitimate son of a feudal family who is searching for treasure hidden under a dilapidated mansion guarded by a fallen god. Weaving would play dubious poppy-trading South African who becomes afflicted by a curse that makes him a sleeping immortal.
