The Secret Scripture
Eric Bana (“Deliver Us From Evil”), Theo James (“Divergent”) and Jack Reynor (“Transformers: Age of Extinction”) are in talks to co-star with Rooney Mara in Jim Sheridan’s feature film adaptation of Sebastian Barry’s “The Secret Scripture.” Vanessa Redgrave and Jeremy Irons also star.

The story revolves around the extended stay of a woman (Mara) at a mental hospital.

Bana will play a rebellious doctor responsible for reviewing her case. James will play the local Catholic priest, Reynor plays a British soldier and Mara’s love interest. [Source: Variety]

The Finest Hours
Casey Affleck is in talks to join Chris Pine in Craig Gillespie’s period rescue drama “The Finest Hours” at Disney Pictures. Jim Whitaker and Dorothy Aufiero are producing.

The story is set in 1952, when the Coast Guard attempts a dramatic rescue after two oil tankers collide off the coast of Cape Cod. Paul Tamasy and Eric Johnson adapted the novel by Casey Sherman and Michael J Tougias. [Source: Deadline]

The 5th Wave
Liev Schreiber (“Ray Donovan”) is in final negotiations to play the villain opposite Chloe Moretz in J Blakeson’s adaptation of Rick Yancey’s bestselling novel “The 5th Wave” for Sony Pictures. Schreieber would play Vosch, a high-ranking military official.

Moretz stars as Cassie Sullivan, who survives four waves of deadly alien attacks against the Earth’s population. On the run to save her younger brother, she meets a mysterious young man (Roe) who may become her final hope. [Source: The Wrap]

The Perfect Guy
Rutina Wesley (“True Blood”) has scored a major role alongside Sanaa Lathan, Michael Ealy and Morris Chestnut in David Rosenthal’s thriller “The Perfect Guy” for Screen Gems. Wesley will play the single life-loving friend of Lathan’s character.

Lathan plays a woman who meets the seemingly perfect guy. When a violent episode leads her to end their relationship, he begins to stalk her and she decides she must turn the tables on him. [Source: The Wrap]
