Nick Cassavetes (“Alpha Dog,” “The Notebook,” “John Q”) has done a deal to write and direct the Ronda Rousey-led upcoming remake of the 1989 cult classic “Road House” at MGM.
Patrick Swayze starred in the original as a bouncer hired to clean up one of the rowdiest bars in Missouri, and ends up having to protect the town from a corrupt businessman.
Rousey will star in and produce the project which is being fast tracked to shoot in the first quarter of 2016. Rousey is currently in training for her championship fight on November 14th at UFC 193 in Melbourne.
Rousey has numerous other projects in development including Peter Berg’s “Mile 22,” Warners’ “The Athena Project” and her own biopic “My Fight/Your Fight”.
