Cary Fukunaga (“True Detective,” “Beasts of No Nation,” “Jane Eyre”) is in negotiations to direct a film adaptation of Stephen Walker’s 2005 novel “Shockwave: Countdown to Hiroshima” for Working Title and Universal Pictures.
The story follows the three weeks leading up to the dropping of Little Boy, the atomic bomb that leveled Hiroshima. The story looks at the time preceding the event through the eyes of scientists, pilots and victims.
“Drive” and “47 Ronin” scribe Hossein Amini is writing the script. Fukunaga is currently prepping to shoot Netflix’s fantasy drama series “Maniac” with Jonah Hill and Emma Stone.
