Cary Elwes has joined the cast of the “Black Christmas” remake which has been set up at Blumhouse Productions and Universal Pictures.
The original 1974 film is considered the first true slasher feature and starred the likes of Olivia Hussey, Keir Dullea, Margot Kidder and John Saxon. It follows an all-female sorority who finds themselves being stalked by a menacing killer during the holidays.
Elwes will play a main part in the new take but details of the role were not disclosed. Imogen Poots, Aleyse Shannon, Brittany O’Grady, Lily Donoghue and Caleb Eberhardt also star.
Sophia Takal is set to direct from a script she wrote with April Wolfe. Filming begins soon in New Zealand ahead of a December 13th release this year.
