Cartoon Network Reboots “Powerpuff Girls”

Cartoon Network is set to reboot its highly successful and Emmy winning “The Powerpuff Girls” franchise with an all-new animated television series.

Cartoon Network Studios will produce the series which is slated for a 2016 launch along with a full licensing program that will roll out across all regions.

Created by Craig McCracken, the series debuted on Cartoon Network in 1998 and centers on three sugar-coated young girl superheroes who fight crime in between their usual school stuff.

The show ran for seventy eight episodes, scored a 2003 feature film and generated more than $2.5 billion in retail sales since its debut. The franchise also scored a re-imagined CG special entitled “The Powerpuff Girls: Dance Pantsed” earlier this year.
