Carrie Coon (“Gone Girl”) has scored the leading female role in the third season of FX’s “Fargo” opposite Ewan McGregor.
Coon will portray Gloria Burgle, the very practical chief of police in Edna Valley and a newly divorced mother. She struggles to understand this new world around her where people connect more intimately with their phones than the people directly in front of them.
McGregor will take on the dual roles of brothers Emmit and Ray Stussy in what will be his first TV series regular role. Production begins later this year for a 2017 debut on FX, and showrunner Noah Hawley confirms that none of the previous characters from the anthology show will be back for the third.
Coon is currently filming the final season of “The Leftovers” for HBO.
