Carrey Moves On From “The Three Stooges”

Bobby Farrelly and Peter Farrelly’s long-gestating plans for a biopic about “The Three Stooges” have struggled along but never seem to quite make it to the starting line.

Sean Penn signed for Larry, dropped out, then returned. Benicio Del Toro at last report was still lined up for Moe, though Jim Carrey had dropped out of playing Curly.

Now, Carrey has spoken about the project with MTV News, saying “I think it’s dead…it’s dead at least with me. For me, I don’t really want to do anything halfway, and I don’t feel like a fat suit does it.”

Carrey added that he started experimenting a bit with gaining weight for the role but realised at his age it would be difficult to return back to his thin figure afterwards. He added “put that with Sean Penn and Benicio Del Toro slapping me in the head all day long, and someone will lose an eye. It won’t be good. It’ll be like ‘Midnight Express.’ It’ll be awful.”
