Carr Develops Sherman’s March Feature

Director Steve Carr (“Daddy Day Care,” “Next Friday”) is planning to turn Ross McElwee’s 1986 Sundance-winning documentary “Sherman’s March” into a narrative feature film for Rumpus Entertainment says The Hollywood Reporter.

McElwee’s original doco was to deal with General William Tecumseh Sherman’s march through the South during the Civil War, however a traumatic breakup he experienced prior to filming shifted the focus of the film to a more personal story about the women in his life, love, romance, and religion.

Carr would direct the fictional feature which would turn ‘March’ into a small quirky comedy, keeping the original’s tone but producing something that will feel akin to “Sideways”. The project is out to writers.
