Carpenter, Swank Suck On “Fangland”

John Carpenter has been brought on to direct a film adaptation of John Marks’ 2008 novel “Fangland” for Sriram Das and Blumhouse Productions reports the trades.

Marks’ remaining of the Dracula story will have Swank potentially starring as Evangeline Harker, the associate producer of the TV news magazine show “The Hour”.

Swank leaves Manhattan and heads to Transylvania to interview Ion Torgu, a dangerous European arms dealer who turns out to be a modern day Dracula.

Mark Wheaton (“The Messengers”) has penned the script while Swank will produce. The project marks Carpenter’s next project after wrapping up work on the upcoming thriller “The Ward”, his first feature film since 2001’s “Ghosts of Mars”.
