Carpenter, McBride, Green Plan New “Halloween”

After decades of washing his hands of the franchise, filmmaker John Carpenter is returning to the “Halloween” films and is set to executive produce a new installment for Blumhouse, Miramax and Trancas.

Posting on his Facebook page, Carpenter revealed that the “Eastbound & Down” and “Vice Principals” team of director David Gordon Green and comedian/actor Danny McBride are involved in the project after the pair came up with a pitch that excited Carpenter:

“David Gordon Green and Danny McBride are joining the project to complete the creative team. David and Danny will write the script together and David will direct. I will continue in my executive producer role to consult and offer my advice and feedback as needed. David and Danny both came to my office recently with Jason Blum and shared their vision for the new movie and…WOW. They get it. I think you’re gonna dig it. They blew me away.”

Mike Flanagan (“Hush,” “Ouija: Origin of Evil”) had previously been in talks to direct but now Green, who helmed “Joe” and “Pineapple Express,” will take the reins.

Carpenter added that he “might even do the music” and indicated the film is targeting an October 19th 2018 release.
