Carol, “Spies” Top BAFTA Nominations

The nominations for the 68th edition of the BAFTA Awards, the biggest and most prestigious film awards outside the U.S., were unveiled in London on Friday morning with “Carol,” “The Martian” and “Bridge of Spies” proving the hottest for nominations.

Some surprises were in store though with Alicia Vikander scoring nominations for both best actress and best supporting actress for her work in “The Danish Girl” and “Ex Machina”. Best film will be between “The Big Short,” “Bridge of Spies,” “The Revenant,” “Carol” and “Spotlight”.

Stephen Fry and Gugu Mbatha-Raw announced the nominees and Fry will host the awards ceremony itself on February 14th.
