“Carol” Scribe Adapting Kay Scarpetta Novels

Oscar-nominated “Carol” screenwriter Phyllis Nagy has signed on to pen the film based on Patricia Cornwell’s Kay Scarpetta novel series at Fox 2000.

The books follow opera-loving workaholic coroner Kay Scarpetta and began with 1990’s “Postmortem”. To date the character has appeared in around two dozen best-selling books.

At last report the plan was to craft an original story rather than directly adapt one of the more famous books in the series such as “The Body Farm” or “From Potter’s Field”.

Mark Gordon and Geyer Kosinski will produce. At one time Angelina Jolie was circling the role of Scarpetta, that’s no longer the case.
