Carnahan’s “Stretch” Won’t Go Theatrical

Universal Pictures has scrapped plans for a theatrical release of Joe Carnahan’s comedy-thriller “Stretch” on March 21st.

Patrick Wilson plays a chauffeur who picks up a difficult and devious billionaire (Chris Pine). As the night goes on, their interaction leads to dangerous encounters. Jessica Alba, Brooklyn Decker, Ed Helms and Ray Liotta also appear.

Producer Jason Blum (“Insidious,” “Paranormal Activity”) has reportedly been unsuccessful in his efforts to find another distributor for the film, so it has now reverted back to Universal where “creative options” for releasing it will be explored.

Blum’s first film for Universal, “The Purge,” grossed $89 million worldwide.
