“The Grey” and “Narc” writer/director Joe Carnahan has been working on the script for Sony’s “Uncharted” film adaptation for sometime now.
Shawn Levy is slated to direct this cinematic take on the beloved video game franchise after Carnahan had to bow out due to his commitment to “Bad Boys for Life.” Carnahan he remained onboard to finish the screenplay and today he posted a social media update about it, saying:
“Done and Dusted. Now the REAL work begins. If there’s a more monstrously cool action script in Hollywood right now, I wanna read it, ‘cuz this thing is a BEAST.”
Based on the action-adventure video game “Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune” from Naughty Dog and Sony Interactive, the story follows treasure hunter Nate Drake who believes he has learned the whereabouts of El Dorado. Four games in the series have been published.
Various others worked on previous versions of the script including Mark Boal (“Zero Dark Thirty”) and David O. Russell (“Three Kings”). Charles Roven, Avi Arad, Alex Gartner, and Ari Arad are producing.
