Two legends of very different fields are getting biopics.
First up, Variety reports that Warner Bros. Pictures are developing an untitled drama about legendary late astrophysicist Carl Sagan who hosted the original “Cosmos” series.
Specifics of what parts of his life the film would cover are being kept under wraps. Zach Dean (“Deadfall”) penned the script while Lynda Obst and Sagan’s widow Ann Druyan are producing.
Meanwhile The Wrap reports that Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson is in discussions to play Aretha Franklin in a biopic from producer Scott Bernstein (“Straight Outta Compton”) for his SMB Films banner.
The film will deal with the famed singer’s rise to fame in the 1960s and 1970s and delve into her relationship with her abusive ex-husband Ted White.
Hudson has not been officially cast as there is no deal in place as yet, but a rep has confirmed that conversations have taken place.
