Carano Joins Star Wars Series Mandalorian 2

Hot on the heels of the announcement that Pedro Pascal has joined the cast of the live-action “Star Wars” TV series, THR reports that Gina Carano has also hopped onboard.

The exact nature of the actress and former MMA star’s role in the series is being kept under wraps. Carano broke into acting with Steven Soderbergh’s “Haywire” and followed that up with parts in numerous films including “Fast and Furious 6”.

Jon Favreau penned and executive produces the series, which is set after the fall of the Empire and before the emergence of the First Order. The action follows the travails of a lone gunfighter in the outer reaches of the galaxy far from the authority of the New Republic.

Dave Filoni, Taika Waititi, Rick Famuyiwa, Deborah Chow and Bryce Dallas Howard will all direct episodes. The series is expected to premiere on the Disney streaming service, Disney+, in 2019.
