Cannon Replaces Fuqua On “Training Day”

“Gotham” pilot director Danny Cannon is set to replace filmmaker Antoine Fuqua at the helm of the pilot of CBS’ drama series “Training Day”.

The change comes because Fuqua’s commitments to finish his western film remake “The Magnificent Seven” have led to a scheduling conflict which have required him to pull out.

Fuqua, who directed the original 2001 neo-noir crime thriller film upon which the series is based, remains on board as an executive producer on the project which he originated.

Will Beall penned the series which is set fifteen years on and follows an idealistic young African-American police officer who becomes partnered with a seasoned, morally ambiguous Caucasian detective.

There was talk of Ethan Hawke reprising his role as the rogue cop or a Deputy Chief, but that is not happening any more.
