In the wake of all of yesterday’s TV cancellations, one show is not taking it lying down and is being shopped around – ABC’s “Nashville”.
Lionsgate is reportedly actively searching for a new home for the country-music drama which was axed on ABC after four seasons. Hulu, which saved “The Mindy Project” last year after it was canceled by FOX, has the SVOD rights to Nashville. No word as yet if it will be involved just yet.
The series currently has two new episodes left to air with the season set to end on a major cliff-hanger, and had already lined up respected Marshall Herskovitz and Edward Zwick as new showrunners for season five. Even if it is picked up it is unclear if that will remain the case
One other complication? An anti-LGBT law recently passed in Tennessee, where the show was filmed, that cast members including Britton had spoken out against.
