Filmmaker James Cameron recently provided on a small update on the status of the trilogy of “Avatar” sequels in the works, a back-to-back production which is tipped to begin filming this year.
Speaking with Indiewire, Cameron says the details of the sequel are being kept under wraps and under tight security in the wake of the success of the first film. He also offers a quick status update:
“We do performance capture work. You have to think of it more like an animated film, so it’s not really shooting per se. It’s a lot of performance capture work, so yeah, we’re getting into that… It’s top secret. Remember The Manhattan Project, did they talk about that.”
“Avatar 2” isn’t slated to hit cinemas until at least early 2018.
