James Cameron (“Avatar,” “Titanic”) will return to Brazil this year to make a 3D doco about indigenous people of the Amazon who oppose construction of a dam reports AFP.
“I want to return to meet some of the leaders of the Xikrin-Kayapo tribe who invited me. I want to take a 3D camera to film how they live, their culture” says Cameron who has already come to the Amazon twice before and shot a short film about the tribe’s resistance to the Xingu River dam and hydroelectric plant.
The project could flood their tribal lands, though the government claims no indigenous land would be threatened. Construction on the project is slated to begin around late this year/early 2011.
