A few weeks back actress Selma Blair did an interview in which she indicated her “The Sweetest Thing” co-star and friend Cameron Diaz had quietly retired from acting. Quickly after that, she pulled back on her comments saying she was just joking.
However, it turns out it was true after all with Diaz herself confirming she really has retired from acting. As part of a reunion of key people from the 2002 film for EW, Diaz, Blair and co-star Christina Applegate participated in a group interview with the following exchange happening:
“APPLEGATE: I’m literally doing nothing, too! I’m semi-retired, I haven’t worked for years. I’m a mom, that’s what we do. So I’m around, man.
DIAZ: That’s so awesome. I’m totally down. I’m semi-retired, too, and I am actually retired, so I would love to see you ladies.”
Diaz was last seen on screen in the remake of “Annie” in late 2014. She married husband Benji Madden in January 2015 and hasn’t acted since.
