Vanessa Bell Calloway, Zackary Momoh, Deborah Ayorinde and Vondie Curtis-Hall are all set to co-star in the upcoming Cynthia Erivo-led Harriet Tubman biopic “Harriet” at Focus Features and Universal Pictures.
Based on the story of iconic freedom fighter, the story follows Tubman (Erivo) on her escape from slavery and subsequent missions to free dozens of slaves through the Underground Railroad in the face of growing pre-Civil War adversity.
Calloway and Momoh will play Tubman’s mother and husband respectively. Leslie Odom Jr., Joe Alwyn, Jennifer Nettles and Clarke Peters co-star.
Kasi Lemmons (“Eve’s Bayou”) helms from a script she co-wrote with Gregory Allen Howard and filming begins in October in Virginia.
