Seeing as everyone else is dong it, video game behemoth Activision Blizzard have decided to launch their own studio designed to create film franchises and TV series based on their intellectual property.
One of the major gems in development at Activision Blizzard Studios will be a film that will launch a cinematic universe around the best-selling “Call of Duty” franchise. No word about what time period this film might be set in as the games have spanned WW2 to the near future.
The company adds that they are not in talks with any studio at this time, and won’t focus on any distribution deals just yet. As the company is worth around $26 billion, financing will be done through equity.
The series has sold over 175 million copies and have generated sales of over $10 billion. Activision says that the first “Call of Duty” movie could be released in 2018 or 2019.
