Activision has announced in a press release that the video game “Call of Duty: Black Ops III” generated more than $550 million in global revenue during its first three days.
That makes the military shooter the “biggest entertainment launch of the year”. In comparison, Microsoft’s “Halo 5: Guardians” generated $400 million in sales after a full week – though that game was only available on one platform. 2012’s “Call of Duty: Black Ops II” generated $500 million in sales after just 24 hours.
Worldwide sales are said to have “rose significantly” over 2013’s “Call of Duty: Ghosts” and 2014’s “Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare”, downloaded copies of the game jumped nearly 100% compared to ‘Advanced Warfare’, and the game has already become the best-selling digital full game by units sold in its first day in PS4 history.
