“Ally McBeal” and “Brothers & Sisters” actress Calista Flockhart has scored a key role in CBS’ upcoming “Supergirl” TV series.
The story centers on Superman’s cousin Kara Zor-El (Melissa Benoist). Having been raised by a family who taught her to repress her innate abilities, the now 24-year-old young woman begins embracing her extraordinary abilities and becomes the hero known as Supergirl.
Flockhart will play DC Comics character Cat Grant, in this version a self-made media magnate and founder of CatCo who started her career as a reporter and has built her company into a global powerhouse. Kara is her assistant.
Tracy Scoggins previously played a version of Cat Grant in NBC’s “Lois and Clark” series back in the 1990s.
