Veteran British actors Michael Caine, Jim Broadbent, Michael Gambon and Ray Winstone are in talks to join a currently untitled caper film about the Hatton Garden jewelry heist.
The story deals with the biggest burglary in British history and involved four elderly ex-cons, aged between 58 and 76, rake in a $300 million from haul London’s jewelry district Hatton Garden during the Easter weekend in 2015.
Dubbed the Diamond Geezers, the heist took three years planning and four days digging to access the vault of the Hatton Garden Safe Deposit. Ultimately one member got away with $15 million, while the rest were caught and sentenced.
James Marsh (“The Theory Of Everything”) will direct while Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner will produce the film which is aiming for a late Spring debut. Joe Penhall (“The Road”) has penned the script based on Mark Seal’s Vanity Fair piece titled “The Over The Hill Mob”.
