It looks like Spider-Man has been found.
El Mayimbe reports that long-time rumored frontrunner Asa Butterfield (“Hugo,” “Ender’s Game”) has been selected to be the Marvel Studios approved new Spider-Man, with the actor now in negotiations for the role (but not yet signed).
If accurate, Butterfield has beaten out the likes of Tom Holland and Nat Wolff for the part. He is expected to make his debut in “Captain America: Civil War” which recently began filming. He will then get his own film for July 28th 2017, and will then likely crossover into other Marvel Studios films – the best bet being the “Avengers: Infinity War” two-film saga.
Butterfield, who just turned 18, is also by far the youngest actor to take on the role. Both Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield were in their mid-20’s when they first played Peter Parker.
