Tim Burton is set to direct “Dumbo,” the newest effort in Disney’s plans to turn its famous animated features into live-action features following in the wake of “Maleficent,” this week’s “Cinderella” and Burton’s own “Alice in Wonderland” which started this whole trend.
“Transformers” franchise writer Ehren Kruger has penned the script for the film which will mix CG animation and live action to adapt the famed 1941 film about a baby circus elephant made fun of for his large ears.
The new film will also add a family story that parallels Dumbo’s journey. Justin Springer and Kruger will produce. Along with all these projects, Disney also has live-action takes on “The Jungle Book” and “Beauty and the Beast” in the works.
