Paramount Pictures’ first “Transformers” spin-off is moving closer to fruition with the script for a Bumblebee movie coming in and the studio said to be very happy with the result.
Deadline reports that Christina Hodson (“Shut In”) is the writer who cracked the spinoff and has turned in a script that will make it possible for the studio to have the film ready in time for a June 2018 release.
Hodson was a late addition to the ‘writers room’ initiative assembled last summer that aimed to flesh out the Hasbro universe and lead to projects such as this. Having made the Black List three times in the past four years, she’s already worked on numerous high profile projects in development including a reboot of “The Fugitive” and an untitled DC Comics film amongst other projects.
The next sequel, “Transformers: The Last Knight,” is directed by Michael Bay from a script by Iron Man scribes Art Marcum & Matt Holloway. That film opens next Summer and the first trailer for it has been classified according to Trailer Track which suggests it will debut imminently – most likely with “Fantastic Beasts” next week as it’s said to be an IMAX trailer.
