Bubbles The Chimp Script Tops 2015 Blacklist

The 2015 edition of the Black List, the annual list of the most well-regarded unproduced screenplays of the year has arrived. A polling of over 250 executives and agents, the list contains dozens of screenplays penned and read this year but won’t go into production before the end of 2015.

Over 225 films have been made from Black List screenplays over the years including the likes of “Argo,” “Spotlight,” “Selma,” “The Imitation Game,” “The Social Network,” “Frost/Nixon,” “American Sniper,” “Django Unchained,” “Life of Pi,” “Slumdog Millionaire,” “Whiplash,” “Nebraska,” “American Hustle,” “The Fighter,” “Juno,” “The Queen,” “Little Miss Sunshine,” “Michael Clayton,” “The Descendants,” Inglourious Basterds,” “The King’s Speech” and “The End of the Tour”.

This year’s winner with 44 votes was Isaac Adamson’s “Bubbles,” a biopic about Michael Jackson’s pet Bubbles the Chimp which follows the King of Pop’s scandals from the chimpanzee’s perspective. Not far behind with 40 votes was John Pollono and Scott Silver’s “Stronger” about a man who lost his legs in the 2013 Boston Marathon bombing.

In third with 37 votes was Ben Kopit’s “The Libertine” about a French National Assembly head placed under house arrest with his estranged wife following accusations of sexual assault. Tying for that place was Jeffrey Gelber and Ryan Belenzon’s “Rocket” about famed baseball pitcher Roger ‘The Rocket’ Clemens. Fourth was John J. Griffin’s “Crater” which follows five teens spending time together on the moon before one of their number heads out on a seventy-five year journey to another planet.
