Last year’s Black List of best unproduced screenplays was easily topped by “Bubbles,” Isaac Adamson’s script which essentially served as a pseudo-Michael Jackson biopic as seen through the eyes of his famed chimpanzee companion Bubbles.
Many were wondering how in the hell this would get made into a film, now comes word of a rather perfect way of tackling the material as plans are to do it as a stop-motion animated feature in the vein of Charlie Kaufman’s “Anomalisa”.
Dan Harmon, the “Rick and Morty” and “Community” creator, executive produced “Anomalisa” and is set to produce this alongside Andrew Kortschak through their respective production companies.
Bubbles was adopted by Jackson from an Austin, Texas research facility and given residence at the Neverland Ranch in 1983. He was Jackson’s constant companion until he became overaggressive and was moved to a monkey sanctuary in Florida.
